What Are the Benefits of Having a Portable Indoor Shower at Home?

Portable Shower - Santa Cruz, CA

It’s not uncommon for elderly individuals with mobility issues to require the help of caregivers. In many cases, our elderly loved ones are deemed to be better off in long-term care facilities so that they can benefit from the assistance of medical professionals. However, being away from home is a situation that most people tend to feel uncomfortable with. And who can blame them? Who wouldn’t prefer to live in the comforts of his/her own home?

Especially when it comes to the matter of bathing, a person can feel a great sense of despair as both independence and dignity are compromised. This is certainly true when it comes to sponging baths. Not only do patients in long-term care facilities not get to enjoy thorough cleaning experiences with running water, but the experience of a practical stranger doing your bathing for you is universally unsettling.

How Does a Portable Indoor Shower at Home Resolve Such Problems?

Well, let’s first speak to the obvious. When a person with mobility issues gets the opportunity to live in his/her own home, an automatic renewal of peace of mind is experienced. No longer feeling unfamiliar with one’s surroundings is a major benefit for those dealing with the emotional strain that is generally coupled with the physical hardships that come with having a disability.

Furthermore, a portable indoor showered allows for full and thorough bathing experiences with running water – they simply can’t be beat! A complete clean comprised of shampooing and lathering on the soap before rinsing is the true definition of a shower for most people. Just because one is enduring an issue with mobility, it shouldn’t have to diminish the bathing experience. A portable indoor showered at home provides that experience.

How Does a Portable Indoor Shower at Home Save You Money?

Well, let’s speak for the fact that there is a huge convenience provided to the members to the household. With a portable indoor shower, no costly remodeling is necessary. In many cases, homeowners have had to bear the expenses of renovating their bathrooms in order to make them accessible to wheelchair users in their families. Not only is this a pricey undertaking, but it’s one that takes up a lot of time and energy!

The word “portable” should not be glossed over. A portable indoor showered not only prevents the need for renovations, but takes away the concern about bathroom accessibility. By their very nature, portable showers can be set up in different rooms of the household. That way, the shower is brought to the user instead of having the user have to traverse through obstacles (read: staircases, narrow doorways, etc.) to get in the shower.

  1. I like how you mentioned that In many cases, homeowners have to bear the expenses of renovating their bathrooms in order to make them accessible to wheelchair users in their families, but with a portable indoor shower, no costly remodeling is necessary. My family and I just moved into a house that only has one shower, which is not big enough for our whole family, so we need to get another one and are considering our options. After learning more about portable showers and it’s many benefits, I will definitely consider getting one for my house.

    • Great Question! As the water comes in through the shower head, it falls to the base of the shower. It then flows to the front righ corner where there is a built-in pump. The pump Continiously pumps the water through a seperate Out-Hose usually back to the same sink that was the water source or another drain located nearby. Both the In-Hose and Out-Hose have a standard length of 35feet but we can make custom hose lengths up to 55feet at no additional cost. Check out this video to get a better idea of how it connects onto a faucet and how the water is pumped out:
